A fundraiser by The Downtown Coin Club for the family of fallen Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Howell raised $540. The donation, along with a custom-made plaque, was presented to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Friday.
The money was raised through the generosity of Downtown Coin customers, and matched by the Downtown Carson City Coin Club, said Downtown Coin owner Dan Wilson.
Presenting the donation Friday to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong and Deputy Jessica Dickey were Coin Club members Chuck Price and Pete Onorato, a retired Nevada Highway Patrol lieutenant. The plaque was designed by John “The Woodcrafter” Peeters.
